I’m 50, no periods for 6 months and apart from being a bit more irritated than normal, I’ve not had any other symptoms until recent joint pain and awful anxiety which has come out the blue and it’s scaring me a little. My heart feels jumpy and even making dinner is panicking me. Got doctors app in Friday, what kind of hrt is best for anxiety and joint pain?

You’ll probably offered transdermal, so have a think if you would prefer putting on daily spray or gel or changing patches twice a week. All HRT is oestrogen and progesterone just different methods of delivery.

I’m in a similar situation thought it was no big deal then suddenly very achy joints , bad sweats and generally feeling shite - I spoke to doc and she has referred me to menopause clinic but mentioned having coil fitted - why would I benefit from that ?

@mrsbyers a mirina coil is used as the progesterone part of HRT. You don’t have to have one though.

DrStrangesSmarterSister · 29/05/2024 19:24

God, there's no way I want a coil.

Hopskiplou · 29/05/2024 19:28

Mirena coil has been life changing for me. No periods for 15 years 🥳

This is all really helpful, I’m sitting in floods of tears, that’s what I get for thinking I was sailing through it!

I've had both patches and gel and the gel is so much better. You can control the dose and have an extra pump if you're having a particularly bad day. You can also have a pump on your inner thigh at night and it helps with night sweats

Thanks for all your help, ended up getting an appointment today and been prescribed HRT pills, here's hoping I see an improvement soon!
