Menopause really dragging on?

Wondering if anyone has experienced similar?

3 years ago thought menopause was done and dusted, no periods for over a year.

Then got bleeding, refereed for scan, ended up on 2 week pathway due to thickened womb lining. To and fro appointments and scans as biopsy clear, expired mirena removed, but then after 3 months had horrendous flooding so eventually got hysteroscopy which found a load of polyps, which were removed, new Mirena given and ended up with estradiol patches. Biopsies clear.

2 years on from the hysteroscopy, I am getting occasional bleeding - every 3/4 months I get acfew days of light bleeding. It is accompanied by breast soreness so I assume it is still hormonal and not sinister. But, blinking hell, surely it should have stopped by now? I thought I was finished 3 years ago!

Has anyone experienced similar? Just wondering when it might eventually stop?

I’m 50 , had a hysteroscopy for heavy bleeding last year and a polyp removal. I was put on the mini pill in September, had some spotting. I’ve had mine sinc January , then yesterday I started with terrible mood , spotting and stomach ache . I’m 51 next month and I really thought I was done !

If you were under 50, 3 years ago and thought it was all over that could be the reason.

In younger women especially aged 45-ish, periods can resume after 12 months.

How old are you now?

@JinglingSpringbells thank you I am late 50s so really would have expected to be over it !

So you're around 57-59?

If you've still got a Mirena and you're bleeding 2 years after your previous hysteroscopy, have you seen your GP ?

It's a bit odd because with a new-ish Mirena you'd not expect to bleed at all (unless it's gone AWOL and you don't know that.)

I'd see your GP and maybe have a scan to see what's going on.

It's probably your ovaries "having one last hurrah", at least that's what I was told by the gynae consultant. I was put on the 2 week pathway too, but mine seems to have resolved itself at the latest scan 🤞

Thanks all. Might be worth me checking in with gp that I don't need another scan.
