Advice needed on what others do please or thoughts? I am speaking to the GP but I despair...
I'm 47, no periods prior to starting HRT as on the Progesterone Only Pill (started when 40 to control heavy bleeding). I was put on Continuous HRT 18 months ago but no wonder if it should have been/be sequential as I believe I'm not post menopausal.
I've been on Continuous HRT for nearly 18 months (Estrogen gel and Progesterone tablets), started initially with no issues then after about 8 months had unexplained bleeding for about a month. They increased my progesterone to 200mg at night, 2 pumps of gel in the morning. This settled the bleeding for a while. Mood swings kicked in, boss had a word with me and I was recommended to up the gel to 4 pumps in the morning. A few months later the bleeding started again and I was referred for scans and then a biopsy which all can back clear although my lining is thicker than expected and I have a fibroid about the size of a golf ball outside the uterus so they couldn't treat it.
Following the biopsy I bleed again for six weeks straight, was put on Norethisterone to stop the bleed which it did until I stopped taking it and I'm now bleeding again. Norethisterone also made me really anxious.
Weight gain has been awful throughout but with the constant bleeding I'm so tired so unsure if HRT related.
Went back to the GP yesterday and I mentioned sequential but they have said to take the Progesterone for days 1 to 25 of the month and take the later five or six days off and use the gel every day. Thought you should only be on progesterone for 10 to 14 days with oestrogen every day???
Please help a girl out. My GP seems happy to listen but just does not have the knowledge. They wrote to the hospital but it takes a month to get a response.
