Testogel- making me feel awful

Can any advise me. I started on a pea sized amount of Testogel in addition to Utrogestan and oestrogel(which I’ve taken for 18 months with no issues) I had no libido and terrible insomnia and eventually my consultant agreed to add the testerone .
Two weeks in and I feel absolutely awful. Raging mood swings, terrible nightmares and fatigue like I’ve never known before . No sign of libido improving (although I know this takes time). Do i just stop the testogel? Or give it more time.

I gave it three months and stopped because I couldn't see any benefits and was getting acne and very funky body odour.
I spoke to a very good women's health nurse and she said it should be very closely monitored and that often the side effects outweigh any benefits and it's not the wonder cure for everyone some menopause pioneers suggest.
Sadly it didn't give me any sparkle back.
I don't really have any advice but I think you have to listen to your body and do what feels right for you but it might be too early in to really know yet.

Thank you so much for your swift response. That’s very useful info to know. I honestly feel so much worse since starting Testogel. I may give it a bit more time but if I’m still just as bad I will stop. All I’ve heard is positive stories so it’s helpful to hear a different take on it.

I was gutted about it tbh I had such high hopes

Mine super charged my libido and no side effects. However I only wanted it for more energy, and the sexy stuff is a bit much for me. I have gone down to using it more intermittently.

How often are you taking it and when? It's best taken in the morning as it can disrupt sleep and although instructions say every other day I'd start low and increase if needed, so say a pea sized amount twice a week. See how you get on and either keep to that or increase if you tolerate it better with a slower introduction.

Thank you. I take it every morning . That’s a good suggestion to drop it down a bit and then slowly increase if that feels better for me. Think I may drop to 3 times a week.

Yes or even twice a week for a couple of months then up to 3 times and maybe stick at that if libido returns. It's safe to play around with it it isn't like other medication where you need a hcp to advise.
Bodies are funny when we introduce new things, some need more of a build up than others!

I gave up as the side effect was that all my joints were aching all the time.. stopped and it went away. The tiredness didn't go away though.

size4feet · 25/05/2024 16:53

I was instructed to start 2 or 3 times a week and build up over a month I think.

Cut back to 2 x a week then to every second day before going on to daily if needed or use it daily but less. Like a petit pois rather than a fat garden pea!

doesanyonecare · 25/05/2024 22:09

I took it for over 6 months everyday and saw no improvement whatsoever . Bloods showed no increase either so have changed brands now

Strongbeatsskinny · 25/05/2024 22:10

I was told by menopause specialist to give it a full six months to see any benefits. So far nothing spectacular has happened for me and I’m two months in with it daily. I was hoping by now that I’d see a difference to libido.

This is interesting as I've noticed my joints are far worse and I've been using a small pea size every other day. I'm pretty sure it's got worse, I think I might just stop!

How low were your testosterone levels in your blood results?

SongSungBlues · 26/05/2024 17:57

I dropped down to a tiny pea every 2-3 days, which seems to work for me. If I have more, I get the beginnings of acne.

Applecrumble24 · 06/07/2024 20:32

@TellySavalashairbrush what did you decide in the end?
