Sick of bleeding now!

Hi all, I'm 54, had the mirena coil fitted 8/3/2024 as I've suffered continually with prolonged bleeding. I've been on the patches for a while, but even the no bleed ones I'd bleed, so my gp persuaded me to go onto a mirena coil, and also take 4 pumps of oestrogel per day.
Last year I had investigations to find out if there was a problem within my cervix, all came back clear.
My GP told me having the coil would almost certainly stop the bleeding, well I've now been bleeding continuously for over 8 weeks.
I'm 54, I can't cope.
Why does my body hate me so much?
Any advice?

OP mine took 3 months to stop and I still spot when I'm having my period. But it's so much better than having all the clots.

I hear you! I had a mirena for heavy bleeding due to fibroids before I needed to take HRT and it gave me a year of hell and evenutally bled itself out in a spectacularly heavy episode. I absolutely won't be having one again even though the fibroids have since been treated.

Thanks all, I just don't know what to do, I mean how long can a person bleed for?!
I've been prescribed tranaxcemic acid ( or whether it's called) but they're massive tablets, 2 3x a day, and I take enough tablets, plus I can only take them for 4 days,so even if it stops it, it'll surely just start again.

I've been bleeding the entirety of this year through one thing and another, various different HRT methods, and gp more or less swore the mirena would fix it.
😩😩😩😩

OP, the TXA stops it very quickly and it doesn't restart in the same way afterwards.
The tablets aren't that big, and they are coated so super easy to swallow.

I took TXA for meno bleeding and they were a life saver till I got my mirena fitted.

Have you had your iron levels checked ? Anaemia can make bleeding worse...ironically.

The mirena can take a while to settle. It took mine about 6 months and I still get a bit of bleeding.

I have so much sympathy for you, I had about 2 years early 40s when I was bleeding randomly - it affected so much. GP once they took it seriously did have to try a few things. But the main bleeding I had was a few years ago and Femeston stopped it.
