I keep forgetting the progesterone!

I'm using evorel patches and taking progesterone capsules on the last 14 days of my cycle but forget the progesterone on at least 5 days out of every cycle. I've set timers and alarms and still manage to forget! I wonder if there is an alternative to oral progesterone?

Mirena coil.

Combined patch?

Jeni124 · 17/05/2024 21:45

I really don't fancy the coil!
I'd wondered about the combined patch but still bleed (albeit irregularly) and wasn't sure if I could use it.

Yes, you can use combined patches for sequential progesterone. Some of the patches in the pack are combined and some just have the oestrogen, so you use different ones at different times.

No useful suggestions just sympathy. I do exactly same. Gel in morning and often forget progesterone at night even though I leave them next to bed.

I tried mirena coil. It was horrible. I had suicidal thoughts even though I've never had MH issues. Bled heavily continuously for ages. I was at end of my tether. I think I'm sensitive to synthetic progesterone. As soon as I came out within a very short time my MH had gone back to normal. It was a weird, scary unpleasant period of time.

It works amazing for alot of women. Just not me.

Hi @Jeni124 if you are bleeding irregularly it will be because you are not taking your progesterone correctly. Have you tried taking it the same date each month to help remember or keeping in next to your bed or toothbrush?. There are combined patches that you take sequentially called but they are not body identical and only come in 50 patch so not very good if needing to change dose.

Just about to start this exactly

I know you said you tried alarms and timers but would a notification on your phone work? I use an app called My Therapy and the notification sits there until I click that I have taken the tablets.

JinglingSpringbells · 19/05/2024 12:51

@Jeni124 As they are taken at bedtime, why not put them on your bedside table (if you have one)?

Droolylabradors · 19/05/2024 15:14

I used to take those and left them on my pillow every morning so I would see them when I went to bed.

Then changed to the mirena which has been brilliant and I finally feel normal again with no more crying.
