Endometriosis and estrogen only hrt

I had a partial hysterectomy ( I was left with one ovary) after being diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis at age 38. Went onto estrogen only hrt at age 42 due to hot flushes, low moods etc…
Im now 53, so been on hrt for 10 years. My question to anyone who is in the know…. What is the long term link( if any) between hrt and endometriosis? As I can’t get any answers out of anyone!!

The only issue with estrogen and endo is that IF the endo was anywhere else in your body (eg bowel etc) the estrogen would continue to cause the cells to proliferate. In time, they could overgrow and potentially become irregular (in the womb it would be hyperplasia) and potentially cancerous as the estrogen is unopposed by progesterone.

Can you see your specialist about this?

Normally women with endo are given a progestogen as well.

I was discharged following my hysterectomy and now I’m only under the gp. I’ve been complaining of bladder/ bowel/ pelvic pain for a few years now, I’ve been referred for ultrasound, they’ve found nothing( obviously, if it’s endo!) . More recently I’ve been having similar pains in my chest,I’ve recently had heart, ct, etc… nothing. The gp thinks I’m making it up. I’m wondering if it’s endo being ‘fed’ by my estrogen hrt. No one is listening to me.

Maybe get your GP to refer you to an endo specialist?
Sounds like you need a lap investigation.
