My Clitoris Is Disappearing!

HÆLTHEPAIN · 10/05/2024 13:59

As the title says, my clitoris seems to have shrunk. I’ve only ever been able to orgasm with clitoral stimualtion and I’m gutted because it’s now becoming harder to achieve.

I have other ‘baggage’ in the form of chronic illness which means I can’t do as much in the bedroom, or life in general, as I used to which is affecting my self worth so much. This is just adding to that feeling.

I’ve read that you can use topical oestrogen but does anyone know if I would need to have normal blood pressure to have it reissued like normal HRT? For context, I had one slightly high BP reading in the docs surgery, which they suggested it would be worth monitoring for a week, but due to a massive phobia of it (and health anxiety) which I’m working on, I haven’t been been able to do that yet.

If this is not possible, please can anyone offer advice on alternative options to help please.

For info, I am not dry vaginally, which I know can be common in peri, it’s literally that my clitoris is disappearing!

Thank you.

I don't think blood pressure causes issues for topical oestrogen. I didn't think I was dry but the topical cream really did make a difference. I rub some on the clitoris too and I think it helps.

Can you also see about getting some testosterone cream op? The decline in testosterone production leads to atrophy of the clitoris.

The advice I was given was to stimulate it (the clitoris) regularly, this keeps the blood flow to the area.

Consider buying a Womanizer or equivalent to focus on stimulation. They are really effective.

According to my menopause doctor, one of the reasons doctors only recently realised how big the clitoris is (aside from being men so not looking) was that they were dissecting the bodies of elderly women who all had vaginal atrophy.

Vaginal oestrogen is great, keeps your sex life alive and stops you having a future of endless UTIs and incontinence.

A slightly high BP once would not be a problem.

Thank you. It’s not so much the one reading, it’s that I can’t get a batch of average readings to check like normal, non phobic people!🙈

Can I ask, if you use vaginal oestrogen, do you get the same potential side effects as with HRT and do you need to use progesterone as well or can it be used on its own safely?

@Whatineed thank you for the tips. I think I’ll check that out…sounds like it could interesting. I’ve noticed I’m still ok with a wand type vibrator. Previously my favourite was oral but it’s like it hardly has any effect now. I suppose being able to use the wand is a positive but it just feels like another bloody restriction that my body has thrown up!

@BonzoGates thank you too. I’m glad it works for you so I’ll definitely check it out. And the testosterone too.

The drug info insert lists the same risks as oral hrt but apparently that's out of date and they want to have it updated. It's very safe - miniscule amounts of oestrogen like the equivalent of one oral tablet per year of cream use. No need for progesterone.

So it's really safe and game changing.

If you need testosterone then you might need to have systemic hrt but someone can correct me on that

The whole point of a clitoral stimulator device is that it specifically draws blood gently (via suction waves) to the clitoris tip. That's why I was given the suggestion. It's worked well so far for me.

Thanks so much everyone! I’ll give the suggestions a go and see how I get on. I feel like there’s some positivity to look forward to now. And the Womanizer is £30 off on Amazon! Bonus.😂

I read this thread on Reddit recently: https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromosomes/s/8ebuaBWYOq

Lots of information in the top link as well including pictures. Could this be going on with you?

I don’t think it’s this but who knows?! I’ll be checking it out though in case it helps. Thanks for the link.

This has happened to me… seems to have happened really rapidly over the course of the last four or five months. I’ve found it really upsetting, though your post has prompted me to get in touch with the GP on Monday to see if there is anything I can do.
