My last period was January 2023. The one before that, August 2022. The gaps had been getting longer up until that point.

Until now. I was feeling a little uncomfortable in the nether regions and popped an Ovestin pessary. Next morning, period! Complete with a migraine and light cramps, my usual symptoms.

I know that restarting bleeding after 12 months means a trip to the GP to rule out any issues and I'll do that. I also know spotting is listed as a side effect of Ovestin.

This does feel and act like a regular period though, and on reflection I haven't had hot flushes for weeks, so maybe my hormones are having a last hurrah?

Just wondering (and looking for some reassurance) that this isn't completely unheard of.

52yo, no HRT.

Post-meno bleeds are common but as it is over a year you should get an urgent referral to get it checked, so I would contact your GP ASAP. I've just had this and was given the all clear yesterday at the hospital clinic. My GP didn't see me, just referred me on the 2ww pathway pronto.
