Hi all, so I’m 41 next week and my GP agrees that it’s time to try out HRT due to family history. She mentioned various options but is refering me to a GP who specialises in HRT because I don’t want to trigger my pre period rage for which I had to go onto the contraceptive pill. My symptoms include but not limited to pain in finger on evening and night time - this has now spread to hands, brain fog, physical exhaustion, weight gain, being indecisive and the same rage randomly appearing.

Does anyone have any book suggestions, links, info about HRT, ways to kill my husband and get away with it or perhaps more sensibly ways to not want to kill him when the rage comes. All would be very much appreciated.

Look up Dr Louise Newson and the Balance App ( but also her website.)

It's a bit of minefield as there is so much info there on her site but you can filter with the search option for loads of topics.

Menopause Matters is also a good source.

I'd not bother with the 'sleb' type of books that are out there because all they are, are watered down versions of medical info and it's better to read the real thing.

@JinglingSpringbells Thank you. This is exactly what I need.
