Hi

I’ve been using HRT gel for three weeks now. I have been getting on well with it I feel, but today I’ve noticed a rash purple looking on my thigh, is this a side effect? Not had anything like it before.
Thanks

Possibly if that's where you put the gel.

Just for info, the leaflet says apply to the inside of your thighs. It looks as if you're using on the outer side? It's absorbed better on the inner thigh.

You can swap to your upper , outer arms for a few days to see if your legs clear up.

Thanks for reply.

I am applying it on inner thighs, but has some gel left on my hand so brushed it on another part of my thigh before washing g my hands.
Just weird it’s given me such a funny rash, hasn’t previously but obviously it’s been on inner thigh where there’s more fat!

Im only concerned as blood clots run in my family.

It's a rash though not blood clots. The gel isn't causing blood clots.
Have you done anything to that part of your thigh that may have irritated the skin- shaved, body lotion etc? before you applied gel?

Get it checked out.
Is it itchy?

Piggywaspushed · 06/05/2024 07:41

Almost certainly.

I am terribly allergic to the gel. Looks just like that. If that is exactly where you apply it that is contact dermatitis.

It won't get better (probably worse) so you'll have to find an alternative, frustratingly.
