Really light period for a week followed by a week of pink fresh blood spotting

I'm 50, last year I had my hormone bloods done and was very much in the fertile ranges. Still having 28 day cycles, which over the last six months have been heavy with huge clots.

This month I had a week of bleeding but it was a tablespoon per day in my mooncup.

Then after this I had about two days pause and now I'm having fresh pink blood like spotting when I wipe. Could this be the menopause starting?

I presume at my age I don't need to worry about this being anything sinister

I’d say so, especially as you’ve said they have been heavy/clots for the last 6 months.

Any changes are meant to be seen by the doctor, but at your age I’d probably do a period diary for 3/6 months and see if there’s a pattern.

At 50 this is to be expected.

Out of interest why did you have your hormones checked? Was this for a medical reason? Just be aware that such tests are very inaccurate and pretty meaningless unless done on younger women for fertility reasons.

The average age of no periods at all is 51.

I was having some weird health things going on, including fatigue so I more or less had every plausible test available over a period of the last three years looking for a cause. I'm 100% sure I couldn't get pregnant so it wasn't fir that, but no sign of being menopausal either.

That's another reason I'm not rushing to my gp. My named gp thinks I'm crazy I'm sure. Another gp said my 5 inch clot was normal at the time. I'd have a few clots bigger than 2 inches every cycle dispite a lifetime of lighter periods
