Not sure what I'm looking for really. I know everyone has different opinions concerning HRT and I'm not sure I'm making the right decision.

I'm 43 and was told by my GP I wouldn't be allowed HRT because my mum was treated for breast cancer 2 years ago (age 74) and my mums sister had it in her 50s. I started taking sertraline 2 years ago and in January I was prescribed Gabapentin to help with hot flushes.
I was seen 3 days ago at the menopause clinic. She wasn't concerned about my family history as my mum was older when she had bc and she prescribed HRT patches straight away! I picked them up earlier and after alot worrying I've popped one onto my bum cheek.
I can feel it. My cheek feels cold and I can't stop thinking I'm a ticking time bomb. I know this is dramatic! I just can't shake the feeling that I shouldn't be using it. My mums bc was hormone positive. Although my sisters and I were offered genetic testing as a collective we decided against it.

Has anyone had similar family history but still went ahead with hrt??

My sister's BC was hormone positive and myself and her daughter were told contraceptives and HRT were fine for us. I took HRT briefly and only stopped as it didn't agree with my IBS.

Thank you @Hoglet70 that's so reassuring. I feel like I shouldn't be using it after being told NO by my gp.
