Hysterectomy anyone?

I will be having a hysterectomy shortly after about 10 years of problems on and off. I had an ablation about 8 years ago, they recently tried to do it again along with a hysteroscopy under GA and they couldnt get into my womb. I asked the doctor why and he said it was shut down, inaccessible. I had my cervix stitched following the attempt, any further attempts would have done more damage.

My scans didnt show anything as they weren't very detailed (they did a vaginal and abdominal) but had difficulty getting a good picture.

If anyone has had a hysterectomy please let me know how you were afterwards and how long you needed help with the children for.

Also, if anyone has heard of this womb shutting down thing, please clarify it as its puzzling me now.

i had a hystrectomy in november- just 5 weeks after a cs. there were some complications ang i was in hosp 12 days. recovey was much slower than cs. depends on ages of your children as to how much help you will need. lifting is the main no no, i felt really tired for at least three weeks - i mean exhausted. back driving quite soon after - i think less than 3 weeks
