Hrt appointment with Dr need advice

After a few years of terrible suffering including headaches, low mood, hot flushes, anxiety, stress, zero motivation I've got an appointment with the Dr to discuss hrt. I've done my research and think I'm going to ask for evorel patches and utrogestan.

My question is should I ask for utrogestan to be taken daily or 2 weeks a month? I suffer from terrible headaches and I've read taking the pill daily helps? How quickly will the patches work? I actually think I have occipital neuralgia as mentioned to me by my osteopath and I think peri has brought these headaches on. Will hrt help with these?

Also, I've recently lost weight since 2020 and I don't want to gain weight. There's so many stories on here about the patch and weight gain but there's no research linking the two. If you started on the patches food you gain weight?

I'm in peri and have had irregular periods for 3 years. I'm in a terrible state and feel so so low. I can barely manage to leave the house some days and I have zero interest in anything. Friends I have spoken to have said they felt the patches were life changing.

What other questions should I be asking of my gp? Thank you so much.

If you are still having periods, you will be given sequential not continuous HRT - so you won't get a choice.

You might be better with a Mirena coil as then no bleeding and no extra progesterone tablets needed.

How have you managed with years of symptoms? I've done 5 weeks and my Evorel Sequi patches arrive today.
