Magnesium question

So in a (desperate) attempt to improve sleep/help with anxiety overnight I'm starting magnesium glycate.

Dose says 2 x 1000mg per night to be taken with food. However, I've also read it's best taken 30 mins before bed.

If you take this, do you take it with food (ie your evening meal)? Or wait til later? If I wait til later how much should I eat? As much as I'd love the excuse of a late night snack I'm not sure my peri waistline can handle that every night!

I can’t answer your question directly but I use magnesium spray as an alternative to tablets as I find it gets into my blood stream more easily. It really does help with sleep. I have the Better You one and use it right before bed. HTH

I used to take tesco magnesium supplements if I couldn't sleep at night, when I was taking vitamin D supplements which tended to keep me awake.

I used to just wake in the night and be unable to sleep. I would then take a mg supplement with a drink of water and be out like a light again within 15 minutes.

I can't tolerate them now but have become a master at cooking greens swiftly in the small hours as requ'd.

I’ve been using Neom magnesium cream (the nighttime one), it’s not cheap but I’ve defo been sleeping a bit better since I started using it

I just took mine. My last food was at 5 pm, just got back from the pool, got a glass of water and I just took magnesium and ashwagandha.
HTH

Thanks everyone! Doesn't sound like I need to eat something massive to take them at bedtime

I've started with a half dose (1x1000mg) tonight to see how that goes for the first week 🤞🏼

I just take mine when I remember. Sometimes this is 6pm, sometimes it's 9pm as I'm getting into bed.

It works on my restless legs quite quickly.

@highlo i take what it tells me to on the bottle in order to get the best amount of elemental magnesium. So 300mg of elemental means taking 1000mg of magnesium tablets, which is two of the brand I take.

The elemental is the important bit for getting to sleep.
