Mirena Coil for hyperplasia of the womb

Hello there I am new here, however I have read loads of post relating to certain subjects on this site and have found reassurance and useful information too.
I am 52yrs and perimenopausal, I have recently been diagnosed with hyperplasia of the womb, and was advised to have the Mirena Coil fitted as this will help reduce the thickening and hopefully it will go away all together. I have the coil in now for just 2mths, however I have been experiencing ever so often a shooting pain in my lower right hand side near the pelvis area, its not there all the time and its not severe its more annoying than anything. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same or similar to me, I also have a little nausea now and again and bloating, which I know are common side effects of having the Mirena coil.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated thank you 🙂

Could you ask whoever is treating you to do a scan and check it's in the right position and hasn't moved?

You should get some follow-up.

Yes me, I get all sorts of random pains since my coil went in.

BUT I had a hysteroscopy recently and the photos and biopsy show an inactive endometrium so it's working exactly as it should be doing.

And in all other ways I'm very pleased with it.

Thank you Droolylabradors for your reply, so pleased it is working for you that's good news, that's what I'm hoping for when I go for my follow up, which hopefully will be soon just waiting for appointment to come through.
Take care 😊

I am the same age as you, have exactly the same condition and have been fitted with the coil for the same reason! It’s been ok so far and I’m really hoping I get a good outcome like Droolylabradors. Very occasionally I get the pain you describe but it never lasts. I’ve decided that on balance, I’m happier to put up with this than to run the risk of my hyperplasia developing into something more sinister down the line!

Thank you for your reply TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross, yeah I agree I'm in the same boat, The pain I get is occasional and not severe. I hope all goes well with you.
Take care 😊
