Periods and Utrogestan - confused!!

So, I started oestrogel and Utrogestan last year - oestrogel 2 pumps every day and Utrogestan two tablets every day from the 15th of the month for 12 days. The first couple of months my period started a couple of days after stopping Utrogestan and I was feeling smug about being able to predict it and even being able to move it around if needed by changing when I took the Utrogestan. However the last few months my periods have gone back to how they were before - more irregular and this month it’s come on cycle day 25, 5 days before I’m due to even start taking the Utrogestan.

why is this happening? Am I just not absorbing the HRT or something? I didn’t really have any peri symptoms but have been advised by my GP to go on HRT due to strong family history of osteoporosis so I want to stay on it but I feel like it’s maybe not having any effect on me. Can anyone advise? Thanks

I’m irregular like this on utrogestan as well - but the HRT is definitely dealing with the worst of my peri symptoms.

Hi,

Your post is completely what I am experiencing. My symptoms have got better apart from bloated belly most of the times but 1st month of sequential HRT got period a day or so after stopping Utrogestan for 14 days. I then skipped a period and now the last two have had my period on the 2nd week of Utrogestan not after??? If that's just the way it is, I can live with that. Just would like to be reassured because my GP is useless. I would like to make sure that I am not putting my body at any undue risk. Thank you x

My meno specialist told me not to worry about the irregular periods because that’s par for the course.

I take mine for longer (24/28 days) but it’s odd that we’ve all had the same experience of being in sync at first.

I'm having this as well. My cycles are dipping down to 21 days, so I'm on utrogen longer than I'm off it. Weirdly I had the two perfect months at the beginning as well.

I've got an appointment with the doctor to discuss shortly, but my symptoms are getting worse as well, hot flushes and night sweats are creeping back in so I suspect the estrogen isn't strong enough anymore.

I'm going to ask about switching to continuous progesterone, as I'm really not enjoying 10 day periods every 20 days
