Are sore joints a symptom of menopause?

So, I have achey joints. Bending my arms hurt. Standing up from sitting hurts. It's rubbish. Up until a year ago when I herniated a disc, I was pretty fit and active. But it was sore then and is still sore now.

Could this be a symptom of menopause? I mentioned it in passing to a nurse a couple of years ago who said it was unlikely. In any case, anyone got any ideas about what to do about it? I'm 54 and not taking hrt. Apart from being ridiculously tired and sore joints (and back leg issues due to the herniated disc) I'm generally pretty healthy.

It was for me.
I was on HRT for a couple of years then suddenly my symptoms came back plus aching joints. Took a few months to juggle dose levels but now feel better an doubts don't hurt anymore.

I had this, then gave up gluten completely and it went away within a few weeks.

Aching elbows, sore to touch, stiffness, struggled getting off toilet and up stairs. Within 3-4 days of starting patches I felt better, could move freely again. Amazing, staying on it for ever !!!

Oestrogel gel for me when I used patches in the beginning didn’t absorb them very well but they did help with my joints pain. I tried estradot and everol before switching to the gel.

With a herniated disc issue could be partly trapped nerves
