Advice re delaying period on holiday

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 25/03/2024 16:25

I use estradot 50 and utrogestan 200mg starting on day 14 for 14 days. My cycle is regular and I bleed on day 32.
I'm going on holiday in April and I'm dreading my period which is due on the 2nd day we arrive. What is the best way to delay my period? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try boots online doctors, they go through consultation questions and take info of what you're already on to review and will prescribe.
I did this last year but can't remember name of tablets but started them few days before due on holiday and for the next 7days and period came maybe 3 days after stopping, worked well no issues.
Or ask your GP.

@KellyMarieTunstall2 Just work out the cycle so you either start the progesterone a few days earlier, to get the bleed out of the way, or later. It's probably too late now to fit in a bleed before your holiday, so the best thing to do is lengthen the estrogen-only days and start Utrogestan a week -ish later.

(I do this every cycle, because I'm on a tailored longer cycle with a consultant and go longer than 4 weeks.)

It's not a huge issue, as there is the option with HRT of a 3-monthly cycle anyway ( 10 weeks of estrogen only and 2 weeks of Utrogestan) for women who have a lot of side effects from progesterone.

@Luckycloverz You're possibly talking about this if you're not on HRT. You'd have been give Norethisterone. This isn't necessary if using a progesterone as part of hrt.

You can delay your Uterogestan until you come home but be warned, when I did that I had a much longer and heavier period. Still better than having a period on holiday.

My issue now is that I finished my uterogestan on Saturday and my period finished at the same time (which is normal for me) but now I'm having another one!!! With period pains and everything! 😩. I go to India on Thursday so if anyone knows what's gone wrong then please let me know. I really didn't want a period whilst holidaying in 38 degree heat xx
