Help - having an oestrogen panic

flora2020 · 18/03/2024 15:20

I really need some answers. I haven't had a period for 62 days and started hrt - I started the gel for two weeks then then I'll move on to the progesterone. My panic is my doctor told me I should have started the estrogen and progesterone together to avoid a the thickening of the lining of my womb. What damage have I done by taking the oestrogen on it's own for a week? any advice really welcome as I couldn't get much sense out of my doctor! Do I start the progesterone straight away for the two weeks or do I wait another week?

I'm not medically trained but a week sounds absolutely fine; it's quite normal for women on HRT to have 2 weeks of estrogen without progesterone and some people who don't tolerate progesterone well have a regime where they only take progesterone every 3 months.

@flora2020 if you are still having periods you should be taking the progesterone for 12-14 days a month anyway isn’t that how it was prescribed? X

My GP said it was fine to wait a month on oestrogel only before starting progesterone, as I wanted to see which side effects went with which iyswim.

@Christine0708 yes - I do have to take the progesterone but I thought I had to take the oestrogen for two weeks then the progesterone for two weeks etc but my gp said as I haven’t had a period for 2 months than I should have started the cycle taking them together before doing the oestrogen only days rather than starting with the oestrogen days - if that makes sense
