Is this a peri menopause thing?

I think I am probably a bit early for peri menopause, I am 38, although I've been having symptoms of occasionally erratic (out by a week or so) periods, waking from 2am- 4am, general rage and loss of libido for about a year now. It comes and goes in fits and starts, a normal couple of months then a few odd months. I should add I have had one ovary and tube removed so maybe I'll reach peri earlier I don't know.

At the minute I'm having an odd month. My period arrived today, 8 days late but it's much lighter than it usually would be, but also much more painful. I'm incredibly bloated, tender and crampy, it feels as though a dam should burst and I should lose half a litre of blood and that would bring some relief. But all I have is some blood when I wipe really and quite a bit of pain.

Is this something others have encountered? I hope this isn't going to be how things are every month now because it's very uncomfortable.

A lot of it does sound like early peri symptoms, yes. I’m not so sure about the current period though, I’ve only ever had pain with a heavier flow. It would be worth seeing a doctor to rule out other possibilities.
