Im early 40s and on the combined pill, I don’t really want to come off it whilst it still seems to be suiting my body but how can I tell when I’m peri menopausal whilst im
on it? Do I wait to see if I get symptoms just as aches, brain fog, notice a difference in mood swings etc?

Exactly, itchy skin was first symptom for me, your cycle length changing is only one sign....there are loads if others!!

I'm 47 and it's very obvious - hot flushes, itching, greasy skin and hair, not sleeping and I'm still on the pill

Thank you. The nurse has said a few times it’s fine to stay on the combined pill at the moment but has anyone else had this advice as they approach peri? As I say I don’t really want to come off it yet as it seems to suit me at the moment but I don’t want to be doing the wrong thing staying on it!

They prescribe the pill to women approaching menopause! Do not worry at all if your nurse has said it is fine to continue

I stayed on the combined pill until I turned 50. They then advised switching to the mini pill which I did. Had 3 very light "periods" in the first few months then nothing, which is apparently very normal.
I stopped taking it after around 3 years because I was curious to know if I was approaching menopause..nothing happened.
It's been 16 months now, so pretty sure I'm done, no idea if it masked any symptoms but I haven't had any.
I think they will prescribe the mini pill up to you being 55.
