Stopping HRT at 55 - will I get a period and when?

I've had to come off HRT after 10 years. Oestrogel and still have MIrena. I'm wondering if I am actually menopausal - I know it's a year without periods before you are declared officially menopausal.

But anyone any experience if they did have a period how long it took to show up when you stopped taking HRT?

Just wondering if I have to put a box of tampax back in my handbag after years of not thinking about it.

At 55 you are unlikely to still have periods.
The age of menopause is between 45-55.
Some women still have the odd period beyond 55 but it's pretty unlikely.

Just carry S pro with you in case :?

Has someone told you to come off HRT? If so, and there is no reason, they are wrong. There is no time limit on it. My (private) consultant has women in their 80s on it.

But if it's for another health reason, obviously that's different.

In case you don't know (sorry if you do) the years before age 51 don't 'count' in terms of risk, so your overall risk is based on 4 years' use.

I remember your other post now.
Sorry for missing that.

I hope you get some reassurance from the scans etc and all is okay.

Do you have to wait long?

How long do you have to be off HRT before they can get the images they want?

OP you might not get a period anyway regardless of which side of meno you are on, due to the Mirena. I had one in my 30s (so I wasn’t even peri then) and it pretty much stopped my periods completely after the first few months of adjusting.
