Perimenopause

I'm 41 and for the last 6-12 months my periods have been all over the place. I've had a few very short cycles, mixed in with a few that were regular but extremely heavy, and now this latest one has just turned up 13 days late. They were regular as clockwork and always very light until about a year ago so it's a significant change.

So, questions: am I right in thinking that this is probably the start of perimenopause? What other symptoms should I look out for? And is it worth booking a GP appointment?

Interested to hear others' experiences and any resources you found useful (other than the NHS website, which I've already read). Thanks!

I wouldn't bother the GP with just this. If you are the right age and aren't struggling or having any other symptoms then I don't see the point.

Yes it's the beginning of the perimenopause. I had very heavy bleeding at 46. Absolutely normal.

I'm 52 and still having periods, this one has been going on for 5 weeks non stop, so you have a long way to go yet. I wish they would just stop now. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
