Mirena and headaches/fast heart rate

Evening all,

I had a Mirena fitted a week ago (although I cannot feel the strings).

I have been getting terrible headaches/pressure in my head and have noticed my heart rate is much faster.

I have a call with the GP next week to discuss oestrogen.

I was on the progesterone only pill for 25 years before this.

Has anyone had anything similar happen after having a mirena fitted? I feel much worse than I did before. Not sure what I should do at the moment.

TIA

Hi Sharpat, I’m getting the very same symptoms I have booked into have my Coil removed. Are you to the bottom of your symptoms yet ?

Sharpkat · 29/04/2024 16:46

Hi @Rusty42 I spoke to the Doctor and had my coil checked and once I started the oestrogen gel it all settled down.

Hope you feel better when you get your coil removed.

Hi thank you for taking the time to respond , glad to hear your feeling better and all sorted. I will keep on at my GP to get help and see if removing the Coil helps me. Thank you again.

Just wondering how you got on with coil removal Rusty, did it solve your symptoms? I have had a mirena for 10 weeks and am getting heart palpitations, increase in resting heart rate and adrenaline spikes. I am wondering about either coil removal or increasing oestrogen.
