I'm 54 and until recently periods still regular. They still are mostly, but sometimes one gets "skipped", so I might have a 60 day cycle.

I've been having night sweats for a long time, but just that, being wet with sweat rather than hot. The last few weeks I'm suddenly getting this all over burning feeling, plus breaking out in hot sweats, at all times of the day and night

Coping mechanisms please?

At this stage, go to HRT - you don't have to wait for your periods to stop to get it, and if a medical professional tells you that, they are wrong! If symptoms are getting to you, you can ask for HRT.
