Is this the menopause?

Hi

I'd really like some help as my GP has been far from useful. For context, i am 35 and have two children.

For 6-9 months my period has been very odd. It has been regular, but for 2 days i bleed very heavily and have a one day break (with little to no bleeding) then it sort of starts again and lasts 10 days. The 10 days after it's generally brown type blood, not fresh blood. It lasts a really long time and strings my period out to like a 2 week period.

I have also lost my sex drive completely and am very hormonal. One minute i am up and next down. It's quite severe. Some days i am so blue i cannot cope at all. I went to see my GP and she asked me what the worst part of the situation was and i said the low mood. Her solution was for me to take the pill.

Whilst i suppose that is a solution, i have two children and my husband has had a vasectomy so i don't want to have to take the pill unnecessarily!

Is this early menopause or something else? I don't really know where else to turn.

Thank you

How old was your mum when she started?

Have you considered a Mirena coil to, hopefully, stop the periods? Plus it can be the progesterone part of HRT.

Annoyingly she had a hysterectomy when she was 32 so started after that. So that doesn't give us a true picture x

I have a bicornuate uterus so am not allowed any kind of coil
