Feeling exhausted, forgetful and fed up

I’m coming up to 51 and am just feeling exhausted all the time. It doesn’t matter now much sleep I have - I’m just knackered all the time. My brain is also really foggy and I’m forgetting names etc that I should know. I’ve got quite a pressured job and feel like I’m struggling with it because of these symptoms. I’m still getting regular periods but they are really heavy. I’ve started taking iron tablets but don’t feel any better. Any advice very welcome.

You need to see your GP. Mine told me I have an under active thyroid when I was feeling tired and forgetful, and prescribed thyroxine tablets. Apparently there are several conditions with these effects.

49 years old but other than that, exactly the same. I left a good job and started my own business only 4 years ago, and I am having to wind it up because of the brain fog, I'm dealing with peoples businesses and money, and I'm beyond anxious that I'm going to do something wrong because of it. I'm on HRT, but it hasn't changed things much. It's utterly shit. I am a ghost of who I used to be.

I’m so sorry that this is you too.

Sorry, I feel I just made this about myself.

If you get any advice OP please send some my way 🙏. Like yourself I'm going through the menopause & it's a bloody nightmare. I'm snappy one minute with my husband then laughing away the next & the poor man can't keep up with my mood swings 🤣. My periods are up the left, hot flashes every 10 minutes, forgetful & getting frustrated what I was trying to remember oh the list goes on & on but I really just can't wait for the day my menopause is official. It's the hot flashes that takes it out of me & the mood swings! I can't sleep at night though my husband's snoring may account for that one 🤣 & I'm just a walking zombie the next day. I have had great support though from my husband who's been patient & also my close friend's have been amazing! I don't know if it's worth taking HRT or not?! I'm due an iron test yet again as my iron levels keep getting seriously low due to the heavy periods so showing symptoms I'm at the Dr's tomorrow knowing I'm yet again on more iron tablets 🤮. Anyway, I hope you get your menopausal symptoms sorted or at least lessoned to make your everyday life just that little bit easier. Good luck 🍀🤞🍀

You didn’t at all. It’s really rubbish feeling like this all the time and useful to know it’s not just me.

Not considering HRT? It can make a big difference.

theemmadilemma · 16/02/2024 09:06

Not HRT, but I've been taking Menopace Botanical for a month and believe I've felt a difference in mood swings and some of my other symptoms.

Certainly worth considering.
