Night sweats at 37?

Is this normal? Is this the start of perimenopause? I've noticed over the last 6 months or so I've been getting horrendous night sweats for now up to two weeks around the time of my period. It started gradually but seems to be getting worse and worse. I've also started getting really bad pmt which is new for me. Is this the beginning of it? I'm pretty sure my mum didn't properly go through menopause until her 50s, is this going to go on for the next 20 years?? 😱

Oh god, this is me right now. I'm just a couple of years older and can only assume it's the beginning of the hormone drop off. Have contacted my GP today as I can deal with the night sweats but I absolutely can't cope with the PMT symptoms (mostly extreme anxiety but also overwhelming rage) anymore 😭 No advice, but solidarity. Oh, and my mum had a hysterectomy in her late 50s and wasn't through menopause then according to the tests she had done. Yay!

I had the same. Night sweats, difficultly regulating my temperature all times, rage, low libido, itchy skin and fatigue. Black cohosh (supplement with magnesium in) worked wonders for me and hot sweats have completely stopped and most other symptoms.

Starflower oil might help

Sounds about right, I'm 39 and started HRT a couple of months ago, I feel a million times better. I'm sure I read the the average age for menopause is about 50 and you can be in peri for about 10 years...

Yep it sure is. Sorry

VimtoEverywhere · 13/02/2024 21:46

Sorry to hear that others are suffering too but also glad it's not just me! I wasn't expecting to have to deal with this for a while yet so it's taken me a bit by surprise. I feel a bit nieve about it all to be honest. I think I will have to contact my gp if it gets much worse, I wasn't sure they would take me seriously this early on in the game but its good to know hrt could be an option

I will look into magnesium and star flower oil, thank you

I did have loads but don't seem to anymore, weird. Forgot that. Less rage but I'm not old enough I think. Did get the mirena coil, maybe that helped?
