Does HRT help low libido?

Hello there

Am 50, having hot flushes, night sweats irregular periods,.amd my libido has dropped off a cliff somewhere and I feel dead below the waist. I have made an appointment with a GP who is a menopause specialist next week but just wondered does HRT help boost libido as well?

Or is there anything else you recommend to get libido back on track. Thank you!

(And no red flags, I have a wonderful understanding partner but I am really hoping to find my missing libido) .

Yes, enormously.

IMHO not especially. I think really testosterone is the main way to help that

Oh yes

Not at all in my case. Started it aged 37 due to early menopause caused by autoimmune issues and it’s just died a death. I’m 43 now and honestly couldn’t be bothered less. I’ve heard that generally it’s the testosterone that helps if all else fails but that does nothing for me either.

(I should add I still think HRT itself is amazing and has helped me in so many ways, just not that).

Thanks all x

I found patches made little difference to my libido but testosterone made a huge difference – that's to be expected. Then I tried topical oestrogen and found it made me super horny – don't think that's standard though.

AceofPentacles · 11/02/2024 13:54

No it didn't

Mine suddenly reappeared recently after nearly 6 months on oestrogen gel. Will see if it stays and if not will ask the GP at my next review about testosterone.

Not for me
