i have been on Conti patches for a few months and because I’m still getting symptoms the doctor has added in the Evorel patch too. I have been told to put them on and change at the same time. Do they both go on the same side or separate sides?

I’d put them on the same side to keep it simple. You have to alternate sides so it could get very confusing 😬

Missy2007 · 02/02/2024 17:49

Thankyou, I thought that was what I had to do but thought I’d check. Have you found having both help?

I'm on the Evorel 50 and the Conti. My prescription is to wear Evorel for 2 weeks and Conti for 2 weeks, not both at the same time... I appreciate we are all given different instructions, but I'm just mentioning in case you've got the wrong idea.

I am the same. Both patches in the box and I use them as mentioned.

I alternate sides each time I change the patch.

OP so you have been in conti for a while and now been given another patch in addition a oestrogen only patch? If so that is not right if you need more then 50 oestrogen the GP needs to give you separate patch and progesterone. So a 75 or 100 patch and utrogestan. Nothing should be added to a conti patch as it won’t have enough progesterone in it.

Missy2007 · 03/02/2024 14:31

Hi, Thankyou for coming back to me. I have been to the Pharmacy this morning and they have advised to put both patches on the same side and as with the Conti change sides each time they are changed(twice a week).

So you are on Evorel conti but as you need more estrogen that this provides you have an extra Evorel 50 as well?

If this is the case then yes change both at the same time.

Christine0708 · 03/02/2024 21:19

Nothing should be added to conti as there won’t be enough progesterone, this is really bad prescribing x

Not at all true. The amount of progesterone in a conti patch is enough for up to 100 estrogen.

Any more and you would need more progesterone

I have been prescribed Evorel25, so am within the 100.

i was also prescribed additional evorel 25 with evorel contó/ sequi patches to take me up to 75mg The prescriber was a cons with special interest in menopause so I think it’s ok.
