New to HRT and it’s started my allergies off!

I started a low dose Evorel 25 patch 2 days ago and ever since I’ve itched and woken in the morning with blocked nose - I feel exactly like when I get hayfever.

How is this even possible with a bioidentical hormone? Has anyone ever had this?

I’ve taken my usual antihistamine that I take in the summer and it has helped. I’m hoping it doesn’t get worse as I’m desperate for sleep, to improve my mood and stop my constant gut problems.

You may have histamine intolerance, I did,and it made life utterly miserable. I had to give up oestrogen. There’s a fair bit about it online, but I suspect the average GP won’t be too clued up on it.

Thank you, I suspect this is the case. Did you take progesterone alone? I feel that this may be what I need, apparently progesterone is the first hormone to drop off in peri.

Today I’ve had the most awful stomach and backache. My insides feel like they are being shredded. I’ve had to remove the patch as I’m feeling dreadful.

Excuse the rude question but do you happen to be slightly overweight and/or have a fatty liver?

You don’t have to answer here!

The reason I ask is that my friend had the same symptoms as you, having started on HRT patch (not sure which one), and she was told by her doctor that people with fatty livers or who are pre/diabetic sometimes have allergic reactions because their livers aren’t functioning as well as they used to. Not sure if this is relevant in your case though obviously!

Can anyone explain the histamine intolerance bit to me?

I'm the same OP. Allergic to all HRT but presumed it's the patches, gel themselves. I am not convinced.

Even off HRT bits of me itch constantly.

@HumerusandClavickle

Yes, definitely overweight. I’ve never had any odd liver results though (was last checked about a year ago).

I wonder if my fat has got lots of oestrogen stores so I don’t need the oestrogen.
