Irritable on Utrogestan?

I am on day two of oral Utrogestan. I started oestrogen gel three weeks ago. My Utro prescription is 14 days on 14 off. I’m really irritable… would it be Utrogestan causing it? I’ve been tired and swimmy. Will the grumpiness stop? I’m on the mini pill for PMDD, Dr said for me to stay on that for a while. How long should I give it before discussing with GP? Can I switch to vaginally without speaking to them?

That's a lot of progesterone to have in your system with the mini pill plus the utrogestan.

I found utro made me so tired the day after I took it and yes insanely irritable. And lots of crying.

You could try it vaginally. My GP was happy to prescribe 200mcg pessaries.

Thanks for your reply, did you find the irritability went when you switched to pessaries?

Yes sadly I did, and also awful thrush.

So I've switched to the mirena and it's been fantastic. All the moodiness disappeared, I've been happier and bonus of less period blood and milder period cramps.

Thank you! That’s great news!

Use it vaginally and less side effects as I felt suicidal taking it orally and the difference is unreal. Just use the same table vaginally. You will feel the difference straight away, less bloating, skin not bad as it made mine awful when taking orally.
