Menopause - helpful books/blogs?

My mother had a terrible time in menopause back in the pre internet days - it exacerbated a pre existing mental illness and she suffered terribly (and it wasn't great for us as kids)...gynae issues, severe MH, sleep, weight, the works. it was really tough. The NHS and seemingly society in general wasn't really geared up for supporting women's health then.

Now I'm staring down the peri path myself and I would like things to be better for me and my own family- I'm not counting on support from the GP because you can't actually see one in my area (you can sometimes get a callback but only if the stars align).

So I'm reaching out here, we're there any books/blogs that help explain what is likely to happen and what might help if anything?

I have no female family members to ask anymore sadly, and my friends are my age (early 40s) so all newbies when it comes to Aunt Flo's last hurrah.

Kind wisdom welcomed x

I listened to the davina book which made me realise that I was in fact peri menopausal.

I've listened to a lot of podcasts.

Highly recommend 'you are not broken' by Kelly Casperson an American doctor. I've learnt so much from that podcast.

I like the podcast Louise Newson does (though she is very pro HRT) and one called On My Last Eggs.

Diary of a CEO also had a menopause guest recently which was quite a good introduction. Also I think Zoe Health had one last summer.

Also covered by Liz Earle, Gabby Logan and Trinny Woodall on their podcasts or YouTubes.

Oh yes I listen to louise newson podcasts on Spotify, she releases a new one every Tuesday.

I am pro HRT though so I like listening to her!
