Anyone else get awful spots when taking utrogestan?

Every month without fail my face starts to errupt a few days into taking it. The spots take ages to go and have just about settled and then so have to start taking the bloody stuff again. 😡 I would love to be free if spots and faded angry spot marks.

Period started today and I seriously look like I have measles- new spots have appeared since first thing this morning.
some are deep- those on my chin and others on my cheek are watery. It doesn’t matter what I put on them.
I am going to try a new progesterone next month that the gp reluctantly agreed to try out and see if that helps.
utrogestan gives me horrible pain in my uterus too.
just having a moan and hoping that someone might have some advice?

It sounds as though you are sensitive to progesterone, did you also get spots when you had a natural cycle ? The alternative would be to have a Marina coil fitted, which acts locally rather than systemically, and so shouldn’t cause spots.

@CharlesChickens yes- I am definitely sensitive and although I did get spots when I was younger it wasn’t as bad as it is now.
i tried the mirena and it was a disaster sadly.

I am on ultrageston , I don’t like it much as it gives me nightmares. Progesterone makes me grumpier which I don’t like either. My gynae did mention that there are alternative progesterones, so maybe worth switching to see if a different type suits you better ?

Utrogestan doesn't suit everyone.

It's become flavour of the month because it's body identical and safer if HRT is used long term(more than 5 years.)

But there are other types.

The problem is that the other types (Norethisterone, in patches or as a pill along with gel) is 'androgenic' meaning it's more like male hormones and can cause acne.

I got a monthly zit on it, but fine on Utrogestan.

It's really trial and error.

I have been prescribed something similar to norithisterone. I get on better with norithisterone than utrogestan. I think that gave me spots but not big see ones.
i feel seriously embarrassed about going to work tomorrow.

I used to but started using it vaginally and skin improved straight away and also less bloating and other side effects. Hope this helps as it really makes a difference.
