Mirena coil - failed insertion

Anyone had a failed attempt to get the mirena in, and gone back to have one in under local anaesthetic? I was in the gynae dept having scan so it was expert doctors. They took out the copper coil no problem but then couldn't get the mirena in. They wrote I had cervical stenosis on the form. It was quite a nasty experience! They said if I want to have it in, I need to go in for local anaesthetic. I can't decide if the mirena is worth going through this again or whether to get my progesterone a different way... not bothered about contraception part (51)

Yes but they tried local and couldn't get it in. I need a GA to get mine done. Never had one before so I'm on the waiting list. I was tempted not to bother because GA are a faff but I've tried oral and vaginal progesterone and it doesn't agree with me. I hope it works!

@superplumb i struggled with utrogestan both ways too.

The coil has been a miracle for me, though I was totally exhausted after it went in - a bit like the hideous exhaustion I had from the utrogestan.

Added T after a month and felt a million times better.

Oh no superplumb. That sounds nasty. I've been wondering if I'm at risk of them failing again even under local. I don't want anyone shoving it too hard either! I've not tried other hrt yet so maybe I should. Its taken me so long to decide the mirena is the way forward. All health care pros seem to think so. But I really don't want to go through the whole procedure again. "This might pinch a bit"..... a bit??!
