Sudden decimating anxiety - advice & suggestions needed

Feeling completely crippled by anxiety this week and need some ideas and advice on helping to settle it down please.

Some context:
Feeling anxious, nauseous, loss of appetite, panicky, can't sleep properly & overthinking/worse case scenario thinking +++

I've recently started on HRT (patches, sequential) for perimenopause symptoms including irregular bleeding, joint pain, tiredness & brain fog. This is second month, and both months i'm sure I've felt much more anxious in the second half/phase of patches. I hadn't been feeling anxious before starting HRT.

Have a source of stress in relation to our home at the moment and niggles around future finances (mortgage increases etc), but usually I'd be able to cope better than this and I don't want to feel like this or for this to get any worse.

Any suggestions would be brilliant before booking appointment with GP, thank you

Are you on combined patch and is it on the combi part of the cycle? It may be the progesterone. You may need to change to separate patch and utrogestan progesterone instead x

I find taking a daily probiotic and a magnesium glycinate supplement makes me calmer. I haven't had bad anxiety for ages, but I forgot to take my probiotics on holiday with me this summer and I was noticeably more on edge.

I know exactly how you feel, I'm feeling the same. It's absolutely awful OP. I've been on HRT for nearly a month now I think but it hasn't helped yet.

I'm struggling through each day at present. M

Are you doing any better now?

Keep going! It took me 3 months to stop the debilitating mood swings and anxiety. I found I had to have HRT (Bolton 2.5mg), betablockers which stop the fight or flight response (bisoprolol 5mg) low dose sleeping tablets (brimazepam 1.5mg) and pristique anti depressants. 4 months on, I’m calm, no anxiety and don’t want to kill my husband lol. Hang in there, but maybe see your GP about other options for the anxiety. X
