New partner, peri-menopause and sex!

Hi currently OLD and have met a new partner who I really like. We haven't slept together yet but I don't think it will be long, here is my problem....

I have been single for 3 years no sex at all in that time...not even used a vibrator as lost all libido. I am on HRT (4 pumps oestrogel and 200mg on first 14 days of month) and I tend to have (quite a heavy) period from around 6th-12th of each month. I am really scared that if (when) we sleep together I will bleed even if it is far away from those dates....has that happened to anyone else??

Any sex during peri tips people can pass on especially after a long dry spell?? Thanks for any advice Flowers

As long as you are sure you definitely want to have sex...? You don't have to.

Having said that, I still track my periods with the free version of Clue to keep an eye on things though as you say with peri it can be erratic.

At times when I was worried about bleeding and sex, I used a diaphragm. They are easier and more low profile than mooncups imo. You can order one off Amazon, there's only one type and two sizes IIRC. Their alleged contraceptive ability has been downgraded since I were a lass so I wouldn't trust then too much in that sense, though they probably reduce the conception risk. But they do keep blood out of the way for a while.

Oh and I am a 100% convert to lube. I don't actually suffer from vaginal dryness as such but an awful lot of mem use lube rourinely for themselves because it feels better, and I agree. Makes everything more enjoyable imo.

I am just scared I will bleed heavily during it turn him off and we never do it again...it's like being a virgin all over again 🤣
Thank you I will look at the tracker app I only finished bleeding Saturday so hopefully if it happens in the next 10 days I shouldn't get any bleeding 🤞

I left a thread about the 3 MONTH CYCLE for HRT which is suggested for some women by NICE. If you search MN or go through the threads here (it was last posted on last week or thereabouts) you can see the link to NICE.

This means you only have a bleed every 3rd month.

However, if you are settled on your HRT , your withdrawal bleed should come at the same regular time ever cycle.

It's not like your own periods, it comes after you finish the progesterone and should be the same every month. And it's not going to start full flow during sex anyway- is it?

@2anddone A tracker i s only of any use to women who are ovulating and having natural periods, not women on HRT.

If you were ever on the Pill, you'd remember there was a withdrawal bleed each month (with some types.)

It's the same with the HRT you're using.

The withdrawal bleeds should be roughly at the same time each month- usually 3 days after the last Utrogestan capsule.

@PermanentTemporary

which lube do you use. I need to get some & it needs to be unfragranced.

ive gone from (tmi) almost annoying 'too wet' to as dry as the Sahara.

I need to see a Dr & get sorted, but my immediate need is to order some lube!
