Why isn't HRT helping my brain work properly?

45...really scatty. I've always been a bit scatty but this is bext level. Work as AHP in nhs which dosn't help as I do shifts and am so busy.
I made a catalogue of errors this week so far...not enough to make patients in danger but enough to make me worry about competancy. I was run off feet as so short staffed.
I have an occupational health meeting this week as my manager( rightly) senses my anxiety.
I am currently on 70 eveorel ( but took 40 this week as ran out of patches) and have a coil fitted.
I have been on hrt for 8 months but no help. I feel so dumb.

Can you access your health boards menopause clinic as you are staff? Also, access the menopause policy to look into possible adjustments

margegunderson · 10/01/2024 22:06

Um... if you use FB there are some good meno boards there - one run by Diane Danzebrink (also on instagram) has lots of good resources and also helpful fellow sufferers! Or the Balance app from the Newson clinic.
I wish I could help more but I haven't ever used Evorel and I don't know what kind of dose you're on. How long have you been using it for? I do wonder if the dose is a bit low for you and if perhaps it might be an idea to go up or switch to something else? If I'm correct 70 is a pretty low dose and if you can't even get that much in patches that's a problem.
Suggest get some info together then see GP, possibly to switch delivery method or dose. Good luck!

Christine0708 · 10/01/2024 22:27

Do you mean Evorel patches 75? but I don’t understand what you mean about taking 40? 40 of what?
as PP said if not helping you you might not be absorbing, there is gel or spray that may help? X

malificent7 · 10/01/2024 23:31

Evorel 40

Are you in the UK? Everol is 25/50/75/100 patches.

I use 100, brain fog still there, even with testosterone. I've asked for an increase to 125.

malificent7 · 11/01/2024 18:12

My doctor won't give me testosterone unless my libido has gone ( it hasn't). This is due to side effects such as male pattern baldness and unwanted hair growth. There really is no easy answer is there but I might try evorel 100. I am concerned about cancer though. Mum died of mouth cancer.

Ask to try the gel?

Kosenrufugirl · 11/01/2024 18:42

I work for NHS and I am in my late 40-s. I am not on therapy through personal choice. I definitely can't do all the things at work and around the house that I used to do with ease. You need to slack up somewhere until it's sorted. You only have one PIN.

LuckyCharmz · 11/01/2024 19:23

As others have said, not everyone absorbs well from the patches. Try gel or spray instead, and then maybe think about increasing.

malificent7 · 11/01/2024 19:32

I will go bk and ask for gel.
