You aren’t sticking to anything if you have done multiple things over 2 years. Consistency is key.

I know how to lose weight but this is extremely hard.
It is hard, if it was easy then no one would be overweight. The thing is, it’s harder to walk around with extra weight and self loathing than it is to say ‘no’ to *cake/wine/crisps. If you know how to lose weight, then do that. But do it day in day out.

Having read "why we eat" I think we can definitely stuff up our metabolism. Especially with long term dieting.

Experiments have shown it isn't simply calories in/calories out.

This is a good book to read.

I must admit I've moved over to reduced upf and was hoping that would help. I have 100lb to lose....

Meme54 · 28/12/2023 00:50

@SausageCasseroles what’s reduced upc ?

Reduced upf- ultra processed food. So a bit like "eating clean" but maybe the stage before?

I have been reading "ultra processed people" and "why we eat (too much)" and both talk about the importance of "real food."

I had been hoping that over time this would.lower my weight. But in both books it talks about how dieting changes your metabolism and your "set point" and how it's not a simple "eat less" to come back from obesity.

Increasing my protein intake worked for me. Also lifting weights. You lose muscle mass as you ages and that contributes to weight gain.
