Morning,
I put up a thread about this several months ago and assumed it would have sorted itself by now but nope. I’m 48, had fairly regular periods (although getting lighter with very short luteal phase) until I had my copper coil removed in April.
Since then, not a single period or anything resembling one. I have been having the usual perimenopausal symptoms for a couple of years so would just assume it’s finally upon me — if I wasn’t still ovulating!
Almost every month I’ve had all my normal signs of ovulation (bloating, severe cramp for an hour or two, discharge, mad libido, frequent weeing) at the right time but no period follows. I’ve spoken to the GP and she checked with the specialist who removed the coil who wasn’t overly bothered… but that was after around 3 months and we’re now 8 months on.
Is this normal? Has the coil removal damaged me?! Or can menopausal hormone levels fluctuate so much that you have “enough” to ovulate but then crash so low that you don’t bleed? Not sure whether it’s worth trying to contact GP again. What do you think?
