Not anti-HRT but finding a combination that suits me is taking a while, so in the meantime....
Does anyone have any recommendations for supplements, treatments, beauty products...anything that helps.
So far I take magnesium, b12 tablets and evening primrose and have started using eborian's anti redness cc cream, all of which I would recommend. Anything else?

I do 10,000 steps a day and I gave up alcohol last year, and I’ve not lost weight from either.

Yes, I had a similar experience. I went to the gym 5 times a week doing a mixture of Cardio, HIIT classes, Pilates and weights. Ate very healthily at what I thought was a calorie deficit. Kept putting on weight rather than losing my 'muffin top'.

Some women really do need to understand that menopause effects women in different ways and give up with the lecturing!

It depends what symptoms you have but mine were ( pre HRT) mainly anxiety, rage and depression. I took 5HTP which worked a bit.

I take Vitamin B12 and Co Enzyme Q10 alongside HRT now to increase my non existent motivation.

Bearpawk · 06/04/2024 10:43

Are you doing any exercise op? Strength training especially important to protect your joints.
And a bit of cardio (even walking) to get the blood pumping around to your brain.

OnHerSolidFoundations · 08/04/2024 07:39

I've given ip on hrt for now.

Taking Vit D with calcium for bones
Have just ordered some collagen too as my main symptom is aches and pains and gut.

Massively cutting down on alcohol
Good sleep "hygiene" - i.e. asking snoring DH to sleep in the spare room.

Yoga & swimming

I note that when ever homeopathy is mentioned on Mumsnet there is a sudden flurry of nay sayers( big pharma advocates)
However I regularly use the homeopathy remedy Sepia, by Weleda.
It has been a life saver for so many
Google the remedy on Dr Homeo,

What does it do for you?

Can you tell me what Q10 does for you please?

starlight48 · 08/04/2024 15:58

Sepia has helped me with the meltdown - type hot flushes, pools of sweat out nowhere at work, irritability and snappiness, anxiety and insomnia has also really improved the issues i was having with vaginally dryness and libido
Consult with a qualified, registered homeopath, near you on

Hi, I've decided to not take HRT for the moment. I am only peromenopausal and was told by a GP to take a tablet every day and the gel. I did this for two months then went away and forgot to take my medication for a few days. When I came home I have had the heaviest period ever and it still hasn't stopped for 2 weeks.

I went back to see another GP and she said I should have only been taking the tablets for 14 days and then not take them for 14 days. I feel awful and I feel anemic again.

Sorry for the long post. I'm going to read this thread for any tips. I did buy some Vitamin D tablets but forgot about them so just took one.

I feel like I'm at the beginning of a long road.

OnHerSolidFoundations · 10/04/2024 17:08

@AdvicePleaseLowIron floradix is great for anemia x

HRTeetotal · 10/04/2024 22:00

I’ve abandoned HRT for now too. I take B12 supplements already (have needed to for many years) and am now trying a menopace/omega 3 combo. Only been on it a couple of weeks so will see how it goes.

I’m desperately trying to up the outdoor exercises, however the never ending rain is not helping with my already limited motivation.

OnHerSolidFoundations · 11/04/2024 14:20

What is B12 good for?

IncognitoMam · 13/04/2024 14:40

@Marmaladegin how are you getting on?

@BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas I'm thinking of trying black cohosh as can't take hrt. It caused silent migraines. I take plenty of other things recommended.

The worst thing for me is hot flashes. No sweating thank goodness. I get head pains with them.

IncognitoMam · 13/04/2024 14:44

I've just googled and says black cohosh isn't supposed to be used for more than 6 months?

OnHerSolidFoundations · 21/04/2024 05:29

How's everyone getting on?

IncognitoMam · 21/04/2024 09:00

I'm still taking the sepia. Sleep was crap last night but am very congested. Strange though I can breathe but feel the congestion. I've been like this a while.

How are you @OnHerSolidFoundations ?
