Missed a period a couple of months ago, then this. I assume it'll stop.one day?!?

You need to see someone, you don’t want to become anaemic.
Have a think about a mirena coil to hopefully stop them.

I’m having the same right now. Had a barely there two day period in October, then nothing until 2.5 weeks ago and bright red bleeding hasn’t stopped since. Getting a bit worried now as I have low ferritin levels as it is. It’s not nice is it.

Do go and see your GP. I had this 4 years ago and bled from mid November to the middle of January; a really heavy clotty period. I saw my GP, who thought it was peri related but sent me for a scan anyway.

To cut a long story short, I ended up on the 2 ww and after a hysteroscopy and biopsy it was found I had endometrial cancer. I was 48. Fortunately it was caught early and I'm fine now. It's probably hormonal but best to get checked out OP.

Ive had 18 months of almost constant periods. They are really tapering off now to the odd day with spotting.

Marmiteymuffin · 20/12/2023 12:44

I had this last month. I bled for 28 days having skipped a period the previous month. GP did check for anaemia, hormone levels and she prescribed transexanic acid but it stopped before I collected it. She was reassuring but did refer for scan. My symptoms didn't warrant the 2 week pathway so I still haven't heard anything. I will chase after Christmas and also plan to go back and talk HRT. ... not too worried as had normal scans and colposcopy in 2022, but I am still nervous the bleeding will start up again and then I will be anxious over Christmas. I hope you stop soon
. I was so fed up by week 3...

I hope it stops soon OP, but do get a GP appointment . I bled every day of October, heavy towards the end. I had a private US scan on 2nd November. I’m now awaiting referral to gynecologist on the nhs but I don’t even have an appointment date yet. I’ve not bled since, but often feel like have period pain and I have frequent pelvic and back pain. I’m on sequential HRT.

Thank you all. It's nice to kñow I'm not alone in this. 21 days now and it appears to be getting heavier again after being lighter. But then I would be due oñ again in 3 days, so maybe they will just be back to back.

Not sure it's worth bothering the docs about; I mean, what can they do about peri?!?

Go to your GP.

I had nasty bleeds of 38 and 51 days a couple of years ago, my GP prescribed oral progesterone to stop the bleeding.

I had a scan and uterine biopsy which was normal and I decided on Depo Provera long term to stop my periods, although there are other alternatives.

I also ended up anaemic due to the bleeding which made me feel awful but the iron tablets started working relatively quickly and I started to feel better.

Please get your thyroid checked with bloods and also ask for antibodies check as I had extremely long periods and heavy but not as long as this, how are you still standing. Underactive thyroid can cause heavier and longer bleeds. Have you any eyebrow or leg hair loss, dry hair and skin and extreme exhaustion. Please take some iron also as you must be drained. Hope you get sorted soon as sounds awful.
