Utrogestan 200mg

Hi I take 125mcg HRT patches and take 200mg daily. I started this regime in September having previously slowly increased the patch strength over the past 2 years. The painful breasts when increasing progesterone have eased but I still feel spaced out. I used to wake early and be up and running but when I wake now I'm not. Has anyone any experiences of this ? I am considering reducing the patch to 100mcg and reducing utrogestan to 100mg daily
Thankyou

I take 200mgs on a cycle.
It's a know thing that Utrogestan can have sedative side effects.
You can override this by using it vaginally, but you may not want to if you use it daily (rather than just 12 days a month.)

Can your dr advise you further?
A 125mcg patch is outside the licensed dose so presumably a dr has told you to do this?

As a BTW, the latest guidance is that for women on 100mcg (or even 75mcgs) patches, they too should consider 200mgs of Utrogestan.

So in theory you'd have to drop down to 50mcgs to be 'safe ' on 100mg.

Thanks, yes GP aware of dosing. I should discuss it with them but only once in the 2 years I've been on HRT I have felt confident that the GP knows what they are talking about if you see what I mean.

Ah okay!

Well, you either need to reduce the estrogen, (and the Utrogestan) or be willing to use Utrogestan vaginally, to reduce the side effects.

Thanks, do you think 1 tablet orally and 1 tablet vaginally? I will check with GP too

GP prob won't know as it's not a method that is recognised- ie one of each!

You could try.

You can get 200mgs capsules for vaginal use if that makes it easier- they are exactly the same just a bit bigger.
