Switched from Kliovance to Oestrogel/Utogestral and feel terrible

As above! I switched a week or so ago as I had noticed some increasing anxiety and my GP suggested Oestrogel. I'm a week in (2 pumps) and feel dreadful, achy, stiff, anxious. Can anyone relate/advise? Do you think it's worth persevering and for how long? I'm 61 and have been on Kliovance for 6 years with pretty good effect. Wishing I hadn't brought it up at my review

I don’t know Kliovance, but in the discussions here, many, many women are reporting problems with the strength and efficacy of oestrogel since the packaging was changed, so this might be the issue. I have my oestrogen via Evorel patch, and it works brilliantly for me - but every woman is different and we should all be allowed to try as many different combinations as we need before we get to what works for us. I’d go straight back and see what else you can try. Good luck - I remember so well how unwell I was before I started my HRT, and I never want to go back there.

Any good dr would switch you to transdermal after age 60 because of the risk of blood clots on tablets. Also, the progestogen in Kliovance has a higher risk of other side effects (if you plan to stay on HRT long term.)

I understand you feel rough at the moment but the guidance is to give any new HRT 3 months to see how your body adjusts.

I expect you're using Utrogestan every day? 100mgs? (1 capsule?)

Again, it can take time for it to settle.

It's too soon to switch as you've not given it a fair trial and any dr would say the same.

If after a few more weeks you don't feel any better, it might be worth thinking about a combined patch because that contains Norethisterone as the progestogen, (and it's different to Utrogestan.)

Give it a bit longer?

Thank you for replying I'm just shocked at how awful I feel, within a few days. I'm normally a very active person, swimming, cycling, yoga most days and I feel I've aged 20 years in the space of a week.

How much Utrogestan are you using? (Some drs have misprescribed as shown on thereads here.)
