I'm 51, haven't had a period for roughly 16 months (have had around 2 since 2020) and considered myself "through it" so to speak.

Not on HRT or any hormonal contraception.

Anyway, yesterday and today I've had what i think is a period, Not very heavy but enough to need something. A little bit yesterday afternoon, nothing overnight or early this morning, but another small amount as day have gone on.

It's definitely not fresh blood and does seem more like a period

Has anyone else had this after so long?
I done an e-consult with Dr's surgery earlier and now have an appointment on Tuesday due to length of time that has passed since last period

Yes,you should be referred on the 2 week pathway and given a scan . Try not to panic but they take post meno bleeding seriously so anything sinister can be caught quickly. I had the same but it wasn't anything serious,it was a cyst that needed removing.

Oopsididitagaintomorrow · 16/12/2023 00:32

I had a little look at Dr Google and read that cysts can sometimes be an issue. I'm not concerned tbh with you, just more perplexed why now after such a long time!

Any bleeding after a full year of no periods must be urgently investigated. I happened to me twice - it was fine both times, so don’t worry without being told there is a problem. Nevertheless, it can be a sign of something sinister and should never be ignored.

Tbh that's why I done the e-consult as I knew it wasn't right, but I'm not jumping down the rabbit hole of it being something sinister, as there could be a lot of other things that's going on :)

I had a 4 week bleed after 13 months with nothing. They did a check very quickly and all was fine - guess sometimes bodies do unusual things.

I had thrush last week due to a course of very strong antibiotics, I used a canestan pessary and I'm wondering if it's something to do with that, maybe kind of upset the apple cart so to speak.....who knows. I'm sure its fine, same as you guys, but will definitely be getting it checked out x

I was 23 months with no period but have now gone 2 months in a row with a light bleed (but all the hormonal grumbles Angry).
I'm not overly concerned but coincidentally it was also time for my smear test so I reckon that'll flag anything that needs further investigation.

You really need to be checked. Please don’t put it off. You need more investigations than a smear.

Hi all. Sp had my appointment, went through history etc and Doctor has referred me under the 2 week pathway, which I kind of expected.

She said that the lining was quite thick, but she wasn't overly concerned, however they have to refer to make sure nothing is missed. So waiting to hear with a date for vaginal scan.
Tbh I'm more concerned that she couldn't locate the strings for my coil (copper coil, not hormone one).

Will let you all know how I get on x
