Evorel Conti HRT patches - your experience

Hi, today is my very first day on Evorel Conti patches. I've been lucky in that I've not got many hot flashes, etc, now. But it's as if my interest in things I used to like has gone, including work or reading, which I've always liked. I also feel a little spaced out half of the time; absent; and not really "there" sometimes.

I hope these symptoms can be improved with HRT. I confess I haven't done a huge amount of research on the best type of HRT and went for the easiest possible (for me) option, which is sticking on a patch and forget about it. I haven't had a period for over 3 years so I know this kind of patch is fine, and it combines both hormones, so it seems really convenient.

What are your experiences on it? Can you tweak the dose with these patches, by the way? I can't see a dose in the packet, so I wonder if you can get patches with higher strength, if needed?

I've found it very helpful. No side effects and can finally have sex again . I had vaginal dystrophy and it was horrible.

TR888 · 14/12/2023 16:51

Interesting! What about your focus, is it better? And you you have a higher libido too?

Movinghouseatlast · 14/12/2023 17:04

I started on these, but they only come in one strength so I had to swap to Evorel plus Utrogestan when I needed a higher dose.

HRT has solved all my issues except for a total lack of motivation. I too have no real interest in things I used to love and most of the time I can't be bothered to do anything. I hate it!

MixedPeel27 · 14/12/2023 17:18

HRT pills for 6 years fixed all my physical problems except dry skin, and emotionally I was pretty much me except for losing patience quickly!

I've been on Evorel patches now for 4 years and have zero motivation for anything. I'm quite happy in my own peculiar way but just have no interest in anything much. I've only realised how much I've changed quite recently. I'd happily stay in my house alone for ever more.

I felt great on the conti, on an even keel. But I had a period like bleed after a couple of months, every 19 days, so needed to have investigation. I’m now on Everol (oestrogen only) and ultrogestan, no issues so far but I feel a bit less settled - though that might be me because it’s the winter months too.

TR888 · 15/12/2023 09:50

Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences. I'm a little worried to hear that for some of you, the patches have affected your motivation levels. Is this a widespread effect?

Movinghouseatlast · 15/12/2023 10:16

It's not the patches that effect motivation levels, it's menopause and lack of oestrogen that does that. For me it's a stubborn symptom of menopause that HRT can't seem to shift- every other symptom has been alleviated.

HRT can't replace all the oestrogen we had naturally, so even on 100 patch I am on a fraction of the oestrogen I used to have. I'm starting on testosterone this week, for some women this van improve motivation.

NigellaWannabe1 · 15/12/2023 13:29

Thanks, everyone! So, it sounds like it's been good for most of you, although it's not a perfect solution. Interesting to hear that testosterone is an option for motivation! Off to read about that...

Great. Much more even and I have more motivation and energy again.

NigellaWannabe1 · 15/12/2023 17:23

Fantastic! I so need the motivation to stop procrastinating... things have got quite bad on that front in the last couple of months.

I've been on the patches for about 2 weeks now and have not really felt any effects. Is it too early for that?

I’ve been on them for a couple of years and it took about a month for them to kick in, and it was just a gradual realisation that I was sleeping a bit better with no more hot flushes. I had to have the dose increased after about a year as symptoms had started to creep in again, but again after about a month on the increased dose I was fine.

i do still struggle with lack of motivation, but I probably have low level depression anyway (used to have horrendous massively medicated depression, so this isn’t anything I want medicated for). I have absolutely zero libido now I think about it, but I don’t think that bothers me🤔

Catsrockmyworld · 18/07/2025 22:24

I’ve been on Evorel Conti patches for 5 months and have felt the benefit of improved sleep, better mood, pain free joints and the end of restless legs. However I too am suffering from zero motivation and procrastination plus worryingly I started spotting after 3 months and basically have been bleeding more heavily (like a full on period) for 3 weeks. It then gets lighter and then has stopped - so in all about 2 months of almost daily incidents. It’s really getting me down. I have been told to stop using the patch and have been referred for a vaginal internal scan - has anyone else experienced continuous bleeding? And has anyone had the scan? Worried….😟

TheSaltedCaramelPath · 18/07/2025 22:34

I didn’t believe that they would remain stuck on the skin for someone doing extreme prolonged water activities, but I was happily proved wrong.

I did a functional test, adding the new patch every 3.5 days, whilst not removing the old one - managed to get as many as 7 patches affixed at one stage.

Not to be repeated or recommended as the patches against the skin did get quite whiffy after a while, but they certainly stuck through prolonged daily cold water immersion, sailing, swimming, gymnastics and saunas.

On another note, I prefer the Oestrogel which seems like the full-fat version of HRT and suits me personally, compared to EvorelConti, which for me felt like a version of HRT-Lite (but we are all different).

@Catsrockmyworld**

Not on patches, but in early Feb I got swapped from my Novofem tablets, which gave me a light period every month, to Elleste Conte which is a combined tablet and would mean I didn't have any periods (I'm 65).

First few months, fine. Come April I started spotting. Towards the end of April the spotting turned to flood, which carried on until I got fed up and just stopped taking them in mid-May. Took 10 days for the bleeding to slow and stop.

Told GP and she referred me for the scan. I think this might be where you are now? Scan was a vaginal ultra sound which showed I had thickening of the womb lining and so was referred on the 2 week pathway to gynae. I went to that appointment yesterday. They sprung a hysteroscopy on me!! I wasn't expecting that and wasn't prepared, so it was awful. But at least it put my mind at rest that there's nothing awful going on in there.

Sharky37 · 03/01/2026 22:49

Was put on evorel patches cos of heavy period , missed periods , short periods , insomnia , irritable , etc but no hot sweats . Bleed for 14 days then stopped now on the conti patch and start bleeding again . Is this normal

Barbarolo · 03/01/2026 23:07

Yes, I had this on the Conti patches and have had to swap to a gel and utrogestan tablets.
