Mirena painful cramps

I had a Mirena inserted six weeks ago under GA, had a hysteroscopy and D&C at the same time. I got it after months of extremely heavy bleeding, and started on Estradot 50 at the same time.

Now, while the bleeding has stopped, except for some spotting and light periods, I’m having horrible cramps. Weirdly, when I had the heavy flooding I had no pain at all.
It seems I’ve swapped bleeding for pain.
I’ve had to take ibuprofen with paracetamol and I’m sitting here with a hot water bottle while I work.

I’m due to see my GP to have the Mirena checked next week but I’m wondering if anyone else had the same issue and if it eased up over time? These cramps are beginning to really affect my life.

Sorry OP. Definitely get it checked. It might be slightly in the wrong place. I had cramps for a couple of weeks after having Mirena put in but it had stopped hurting after a few weeks.

Thank you. The GP will have a rummage this week so hopefully that helps.

Yes definitely get it checked out. I’ve had 4 including one that moved into the wrong place because of a fibroid and that was the only one that caused issues. I had it removed and another put in which settled within 24hrs, for me they are life changing in stopping the crippling heavy bleeding even if I’ve had some issues with one.

I just had spotting and some mild period type pain for a couple of days.

Hope your GPmanages to sort it for you Flowers
