I’m away for two nights. I’m on oestrogen gel and progesterone tablets. I only take the tablets two weeks in four and currently am in the off week. So I’ll have two days of no gel.

How bad is this please? Do I need to go to a local GP here and try and get some.

I can’t imagine what this cliff edge drop is going to feel like!! Panicking.

Just realised GP surgeries will be closed.

I wouldn’t worry, it’s 2 nights. Use the gel as soon as you get home, you might not even notice a difference.

olderbutwiser · 09/12/2023 07:50

I’m a patch user rather than gel but have occasionally forgotten or run out and had no big effects after just a couple of days.

Don't panic. I've done this and it screwed up my next period a tiny bit and I got a headache and bad PMT later in the month. But it wasn't a bonkers cliff edge.

Where are you & who with? Any other women around of a similar age?? ..fwiw I would give a stranger a couple of pumps of oestrogel if they were in your situation. Even if it's less than your normal dose it'll help.

Slightlyboredandseverlyconfused · 09/12/2023 07:53

Thank you both for the reassurance. Really appreciate it.

It would be 111 to ask very nicely for a prescription and I doubt you will even get a call back due to the large volume of emergency calls every day.
And then finding a local-to-where-you-are pharmacy that has stock as no ordering till Monday now. I'd probably just go without for two days or you waste your weekend trying to sort it.

True. It’s a treat weekend for DC so I don’t want to ruin it. Loads booked in.

They won't be on progesterone, but I've had a hysterectomy and rely pretty heavily on my oetrogen gel, so maybe it's worth double-checking.

Anyway, as pp have said, please don't let it eat into your weekend time. I've forgotten my gel quite a few times. Sometimes I put a little bit extra on when I finally remember. I need to set a phone reminder or something.

Have fun Smile

Oooo. I’ll ask. Fingers crossed. Thank you so much all!

I’ve done this and was fine

CuriositysCat · 09/12/2023 08:04

I did this in October. I went to a Boots pharmacy, gave them my NHS number (which you can look up online) and the pharmacist issued me an ‘emergency supply’ - one bottle of Oestrogel. Very easy and made life much more bearable for my poor work colleagues who had been getting in the neck all week until this point…!

Slightlyboredandseverlyconfused · 09/12/2023 08:05

Ooo. Curiosity. I might try that. Thanks.

You'll be fine missing two days. I have the patches and am dreadful at changing them. Sometimes I'll have the same one on for over a week, I never feel any different! Just enjoy your weekend and start again when you get home.

sashh · 09/12/2023 08:08

Go to a pharmacy, they are allowed to give small amounts of prescription meds for situations like this.

You will have to pay for it (I mean the actual price not a prescription charge).

Slightlyboredandseverlyconfused · 09/12/2023 08:20

Phew. Friend is on it. The exact one and has one with a few pumps left in it I can have. Will be meeting her later in a cafe so will be able to put it on in the loo.

Will not have to go back to my previously brain fogged, anxious, irritable and stabby thoughted state! Phew.

Thanks for all the advice. Love MN at times like this. would never have thought to ask friends who have had hysterectomies.

I went camping for a week with the kids once and left my patches behind. IIRC, symptoms kicked in after about 3-4 days (like severe PMT).
